Rotherham Council Awards 18-Month Tender for Fleet Refurbishment to Our Company

We are excited to announce that our company has successfully been awarded an 18-month formal YPO tender contract by Rotherham Borough Council (RMBC) for the refurbishment of 13 frontline refuse collection vehicles (RVCs). This significant contract not only showcases our long-term relationship with the council but also highlights our comprehensive approach to fleet management and vehicle refurbishment.

A Longstanding Partnership

We’ve had the privilege of working with Rotherham Borough Council for many years, providing hire vehicles and fleet repairs. Our trusted partnership has enabled us to develop a deep understanding of the council’s operational needs, and this new contract is a testament to our ability to deliver high-quality services with efficiency and expertise.

Rotherham Council’s decision to refurbish their existing fleet rather than purchasing new trucks is a testament to their forward-thinking approach to fleet management. This investment will extend the lifespan of the fleet for an additional 3 to 5 years, offering the council a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to replacing vehicles.

The Refurbishment Process

Our refurbishment process is thorough, ensuring that each vehicle is restored to its best condition, enhancing both its performance and longevity. The 13 frontline RVCs will undergo an extensive refurbishment procedure that includes stripping back the vehicle, shot blasting key parts, replacing worn-out components, repainting, and reassembling the vehicle.

Here’s an overview of the meticulous steps involved in the refurbishment:

1. Collect Vehicle from RMBC
2. Steam Clean Vehicle to prepare it for refurbishment.
3. Remove Any Rubbish & Dig Out excess debris from the vehicle.
4. Remove Rear Bin-Lift & DIN Frame for further processing.
5. Shot Blast DIN Frame, Carriage Plates, Blade & Ejector Panel to eliminate rust and debris.
6. Check Body Floor & Plate, reinforce keel and floor panels where necessary.
7. Repair & Replate Rear Body Quadrants (Inside & Out) for added durability.
8. Overlay Hopper Floor with New 8mm Full Floor Panel and fully weld it for strength.
9. Supply & Fit New Hopper Check Plates for better operation.
10. Repair & Replate Scraper Plate and Carriage Plate to ensure smooth functionality.
11. Refurbish Packer Plate and fit new slide pads all around, along with replacement bushes.
12. Supply & Fit Replacement DIN Plate & Refitting Bin-Lifter to complete the mechanical side.
13. Fully Test on Completion and re-grease all necessary parts.
14. Vehicle Delivery Back to RMBC

Additional Finishing Touches

Our service goes above and beyond, ensuring that the vehicle not only performs well but also looks the part. In addition to the essential mechanical refurbishments, we will:

• Supply & Fit New Thermoplastic Wings to suit the vehicle.
• Supply & Fit New Alloy Side Guard Safety Rails for added safety.
• Refinish Paintwork & New Livery, including:
  • Repainting the cab, body, and hopper in Brilliant White
  • Repainting the wheels in Silver
  • Repainting the DIN frame in RAL 2011 Orange
  • Fitting new Conspicuity Tape and Operating Decals & Signage
  • Completing a Cab Valet on completion, ensuring the vehicle looks pristine.
